Written by If you have been waiting for an opportunity to join the Nigerian Air Force, the BMTC 47/2026 recruitment exercise is now open for eligible Nigerians who want to enlist as Airmen and Airwomen.
The application runs from 3 September to 14 October 2026, and the application is completely free.
Before you apply, though, there are a few things you really need to know.
Who Can Apply?
The recruitment is for two main categories:
Non-Tradesmen/Women
Age: 18–22 years by 1 March 2027.
At least 5 credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
Relevant results may include WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS.
Primary School Certificate and Secondary School Testimonial are also required.
Tradesmen/Women
Age: 18–27 years by 1 March 2027.
Applicants with ND/NCE need the required qualification from an accredited institution.
Relevant trades may require a Trade Test Certificate.
Drivers need a valid driving license.
Sports applicants may need evidence of professional sporting experience.
Other important requirements
You must be a Nigerian citizen by birth, medically, physically and psychologically fit, and meet the required height:
Male: at least 1.66m
Female: at least 1.63m
You must also have no previous criminal conviction by a court of law.
What Documents Will You Need?
After completing your application successfully, you should be able to print the required forms, including:
Acknowledgement Form
Parent/Guardian Consent Form
LGA Attestation Form
The LGA Attestation Form must be signed by an authorized person specified in the recruitment guidelines.
So, don't wait until the last minute before checking your documents.

Read the BMTC 47/2026 guidelines carefully, confirm that you qualify, fill in your information correctly, submit the application and keep your acknowledgement documents.
Do not give your application to an agent.
The Nigerian Air Force says recruitment is free of charge and does not use agents for enlistment.
What Happens After You Apply?
Submitting the form does not mean you have been recruited.
Successful applicants will proceed to a Zonal General Aptitude Test. The NAF says the date will be communicated through the official recruitment portal. Candidates who pass the aptitude test will then be invited for the Selection Interview.
So the process is basically:
Application → Aptitude Test → Selection Interview → Final Selection → Training
What About the Training?
If you eventually make it through the selection process, be prepared for serious military training.
The Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) is designed to prepare recruits to become Airmen and Airwomen and normally lasts not more than six months.
You should expect training that builds discipline, physical fitness, teamwork, resilience, military bearing and professional conduct.
This is not something to approach casually. If you genuinely want to join, start preparing yourself physically and mentally.
Previous BMTC training has been conducted at the NAF Military Training Centre in Kaduna, but wait for the official instructions for BMTC 47/2026 before making any travel arrangements.
Please Don't Fall for Recruitment Scams
This one is very important.
NAF recruitment is FREE.
If someone tells you to pay money for:
the application form,
shortlisting,
an aptitude-test slot,
an interview slot, or
guaranteed recruitment,
be extremely careful.
The Nigerian Air Force has repeatedly warned Nigerians about fake recruitment advertisements and recruitment agents.
